Nampa Has No Contract With White-Peterson

THE GUARDIAN filed a public records request with the City of Nampa regrading legal fees paid the White-Peterson Law Offices of Nampa.  Also, No formal contract exists between Nampa and W-P, they are "appointed" by Mayor Dale and confirmed by the Nampa City Council.

A records request for the last three years was filed and here is what we learned.

Legal fees for FY:  08/09 were $423,820.32

                                09/10 were $519,517.26

                                10/11 to date are $679,733.17

A comment in the post below piqued the interest in this subject and the above are the totals I received Nampa.  Also of note the City of Nampa budgets $1 Million each year for legal fees.  This came from budget numbers in the IPT legal advertisements.

  1. Are there other gumshoes (lawyers) punched in on the taxpayer timecard in Nampa, or White-Peterson the only one?

  2. Dear Komrade T.,

I believe "GUMSHOE" is a term that refers to Detectives and galoshes (used back in the day for bad weather.

  3. Dear Anonymous,
Gumshoe refers to anyone that wears cheap, rubber soled footwear. I worked at a machine shop in Pocatello, ID that had a machinist named Gumshoe, because of his rubber soles! Paul would delete my posting if the correct term for some of these lawyers were used.
Sometimes you have to make do!

  4. Somebody said Mr. White doesn't even live in Nampa

  5. I wonder if there is any relationship between the law firm of White-Peterson and Pam White the city council member who was reported to be Tom Dales' campaign manager?

  6. The $1,000,000 budget for legal fees includes the money that Nampa pays Canyon County for prosecuting misdemeanor cases.

  7. I wonder how much revenue is generated for the City of Nampa from misdemeanor prosecutions from fines going to the city?

  8. What? $1M for legal fees? Is this usual and customary for a town the size of Nampa? The citizens of Nampa should have nothing but questions about this. That is a sizable portion of the city budget. They still haven't picked up my blue bin full of newspapers.

  9. According to city clerk office Mayor Dale will appoint legal beagles at city council meeting Jan. 2. One would expect the rubber stamps to approve. Wonder what new city councilman will do?

A public discourse on the issues of the day makes the world a better place.

We welcome comments but they will be moderated and edited if too long or do not have anything to do with the post.
Agree or disagree just do it without profanity or it won't get posted. Try to keep your comments to no more than 300 words. Too long and I will try to edit it down or simply delete the comment. The whole idea is to get people to read your comment. Don't use 10 words when one will do the job.

It's OK to have a difference of opinion but keep it civil. I have used the "delete" feature on myself at times.

The ANONYMOUS feature for comments seems to be the most user friendly. People have commented they have difficulty with the other methods of posting comments.
