Jeremy Feucht Announcement for Seat 6 Caldwell City Council

We received this announcement from Jeremy Feucht today,  He is running for the seat vacated by Bob Sobba.  Again, THE GUARDIAN will be happy to post candidate info but will not endorse any candidate over another on this blog.

ELECTION DAY IS NOVEMBER 8TH.  You can vote early at the County elections office once the ballots are printed, sometime after the 23rd of September clear up to  November 5th.

Hello to all. I would like to let the community of Caldwell know, that I would like nothing more than to represent you as a member of Caldwell City Council, seat 6. I will be running against David Clark.

I have been in Caldwell now for seven years. I first came to Caldwell, in the Fall of 2004 as a Freshman at the then Albertson College of Idaho. I would end up graduating from their in the spring of 2008. I fell in love with a lifelong Caldwell resident to whom I am now engaged. During this time, I have seen the cities east of Caldwell boom in population while Caldwell's has stayed relatively low. While the lack of population is appealing, the progress the city has made in certain areas, has left me wanting.

There are definitely certain problems the city needs to tackle. First, why are we deficit spending? We have the tax base, and if a person reads the Urban Renewal legislation from the State of Idaho as well as the ordinance that was passed by the City of Caldwell, it can be spent on about anything unfortunately. Second, why are our police and fire departments paid so much less than their counter parts in Nampa and Meridian? I realize that these towns are bigger, but ultimately we have lost members of the police force especially to other areas. Third, why do we not yet have a texting while driving ordinance? This is something we need to follow other cities in the treasure valley on. There are other issues we definitely need to be concerned about, but these are the three I wanted to mention at this time.

I am 25 years old and there will be questions about my age and length of time within the city, of that I am certain. Just know, that I have the energy and the passion to get things done to continue to move the community of Caldwell in the right direction. I have a Facebook page that I hope you all will visit: Jeremy Feucht for Caldwell City Council. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to send me a message of email me and I will respond back as soon as I possibly can.

A special thank you to "Caldwell Guardian," for keeping us up to date on the issues that surround our community, and a thank you to all for your time and support.

Jeremy Feucht

  1. Are you sure he is old enough?

  2. Idaho code says all you have to be is 18 year old, be a voter in "good standing" and get yourself elected to hold public office.

Mr. Feucht meets and exceeds all of the aforementioned requirements to run for city council.

  3. You need to change your Facebook page from a group to a fan page. One should not have to request to join a group to follow you. You should make it easy for voters to see what you stand for. Thanks.

  4. It's obvious that local politics and government needs new blood - and ideas. Maybe us voters should give the young man a shot at it.

  5. Why is Jim Blacker running. He needs to term limit himself out and let some new blood and fresh air in the Caldwell City Council. In the meetings I have attended the City Council does not represent the people but are for the most part a rubber stamp for the Mayor.

  6. I wish this man the best. I hope he adds something new to Caldwell. I look forward to learning more about him.

To the person who made the comment about his age--
Maybe some youth and energy is needed. I don't know what David Clark brings, other than support from Chris and Arlene Yamamoto and John Blujak. I think we've had enough of these kinds of people in office.

  7. There now that's better, this picture makes him look more like an adult and not a high school kid.

Sorry firefighter 1821, but I don't have much faith in the X-box generation. I'm sure a youthful, inexperienced, councilman is exactly what you would like.

I'd rather have someone with some experience in dealing with unions and such so we don't end up giving away more of our precious tax dollars unnecessarily while everyone else iscutting their budgets. Just saying.

  8. Lol good lord, it sounds like it's the other candidate against this guy trying to anonymously bash his opponent. Smooth.

  9. That being said, however, I am still unsure of which of these two candidates I will vote for. The debate (if I'm not mistaken there is a debate, correct?) will be what I base my vote on. But I do agree with the last anonymous poster that the negative comments made in this article seem like someone on Clark's side is doing a little mud-slinging, and whether it's Clark himself or one of his supporters, it does reflect poorly on him.

  10. Looks like my first comment didn't post. That's what happen when you mix geezers and technology I suppose. To recap my first post, like it or not this "x-box" generation is our future. Personally, I'm impressed with this mans interest to step into the political field at his age. Certainly shows some determination that many young people lack and gives me hope for the younger generation.

  12. Hello everyone. This is David Clark, candidate for City Council Seat 6. I wanted to welcome Mr. Feucht to the councilman race and also to wish him luck. I do not know Jeremy. However, I'm sure he is a good man and it sounds like we have a lot in common except it causes some concern to think Mr. Feucht wants to impose another needless law on the books in terms of texting while driving. I wanted to address a few comments on here.

1- I have not made any comments on Paul's blog, nor has any of my staff (all 2 of them). Therefore, any comments suggesting my opinion are false. 2- Arlene Yamamoto has agreed to be my Treasurer, however, I do not have the public support of Chris Yamamoto (County Clerk) or John Bujak (former County Prosecutor). I have never met Mr. Bujak and I have no desire to. I am my own man and I am not seeking the approval of any man, including the Mayor or anyone on the council. I have my own ideas about what Caldwell needs and those ideas will not be swayed by cronyism. 2- I do not agree that age has anything to do with this race. This race will be about ideas. Yes, Mr. Feucht is young, however, you won't hear me talking about it. I want to hear his ideas to restore Caldwell. I want to hear his ideas on how to make Caldwell a business friendly city. How many businesses has Mr. Feucht successfully operated? How many multi-million dollar budgets has he been responsible for? Age does have some advantages. It's called experience in handling money. It's knowing how to make crucial decisions. It's knowing how to communicate with business owners and political leaders. We talk a lot about knowledge and how important it is. One of my favorite quotes is "Wisdom is knowledge, rightly applied."

Last thing. The "Generation X" folks are impressive. I look to them for ideas for the future. I am 46, and I always try to have in my mind cutting edge ideas. This is why I went back to school to finish my Masters in e-business. I am a specialist with working with businesses in the digital world. I own a successful company who helps businesses succeed in this space. I built the largest social media company in Idaho partly because of great ideas. How did I do this? By harnessing those ideas into workable solutions. That's what I am good at. Solutions. Not new laws or suppressing people even more.

Last thing (promise). I don't know who is making these comments. They don't reflect my positions. I am looking forward to debating with Mr. Feucht, and whomever wins this election, God help him to make this city great.

    Thanks for your time. -David

  13. To Paul: I was actually referring to myself as the geezer in question. I believe that I outrank you on the geezer scale. Sorry for the misunderstanding. It did give me a good chuckle though.

  14. Wow you guys kill me. Crack a joke about a guys age and everyone starts reading into it to mean something else. I don't know any of the candidates nor do I care to, nor do I have any favorites. I will probably vote for the one who gets a handle on the police and firefighters outlandish budgets which are way out of control. and need some serious trimming. If it turns out that Jr. Feucht is that guy, then more power to him he has my vote.

  15. I have worked with many young people Mr Feucht's age, and on the most part they are very hard working and goal oriented. I have found the young adults in this age group to be well spoken, well educated, and level headed. As for experience, many of the young adults I have worked with and around who are Mr Feucht's age have as much or more experience in many fields than people much older.

  16. I am a long time resident of Canyon County 19 of those years living in Caldwell. I met Mr. Fuecht over two years ago and I don't believe that I have ever met a young man with so much ambition.
Mr. Fuecht goes above beyond in every aspect of his life. He demonstrates honesty, loyality and integrity. He has a strong work ethic linked with his ability to bring positive change to a stale council.
Mr. Fuecht has stepped up when most his age stand back. I firmly believe that he is the man for the job and I will vote JEREMY FUECHT for city council.

  17. "I would disagree with those who say Urban Renewal raises their taxes. If it was not for Urban Renewal, taxes would have had to be raised in order to drum up enough funds in order to make the Indian Creek project a reality. I cannot stress enough what that one project has done for the community. On any given day you can go to Indian Creek and find families together eating lunch, students studying, kids playing in the creek and people fishing."

  18. Jeremy, the cold hard facts are UR increases everyone's property taxes. You might wish to check with the city finance director on this. I will pay an additional $288/100K of net taxable value due to UR siphoning off nearly $6MM as a property tax shift.

Additionally, very little of the property taxes on everything built after the inception of UR goes to fund schools, highways, police, fire and other city services. All the homes withing the UR district with all the children they have going to school is supported by property taxpayers outside the district.

When the agency expries Caldwell's property taxes will decrease by about 22% due to the nearly $6MM a year siphoned off by UR going back to taxing districts who will hopefully lower their levy rates on property taxation.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I guess youth and inexperience does go hand in hand with not knowing the facts.....

    ReplyDelete
  20. Does Mr. Clark know his facts? He isn't even aware which generation he belongs to. Mr. Clark, you *are* a member of Generation X. The younger generation is Generation Y, and theres even a Generation Z now. My government class thought you should know.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Alldredge has contradictions in his arguments. Yes, "UR increases everyone's property taxes." However, the additional $288/100K increase is the result of the additional value due to the improvements with the UR. What Alldredge cleverly is admitting is he'd rather have blight continue so he can pay less tax. Again, Alldredge is correct about property taxes funds "schools, highways, police, fire and other city services." Originally, Idaho law required the property tax to fund schools, but greedy politicians couldn't keep their hands out of the fund so now property taxes fund other accounts. Turning a ghetto into a developed property, results in higher property taxes to fund the same services that society needs. Alldredge would rather pay less taxes so the very services he uses, highways, police, and fire have less revenue. If Alldredge's house caught fire he would want the fire extinguished efficiently, but he could care less about his neighbor’s house. Property taxes collected from outside the district funding schools inside the district is totally erroneous. Collected property taxes are spent within that taxing district. Alldredge, either run for Council, or moderate the comments ensuring no libel/slander, vulgarities or name-calling appears. If you don't run, then stick to writing opinion columns. Therefore, youth does have more experience and knowledge of the facts than given credit.

  22. By golly I didn't realize all the farm ground east of the freeway in Caldwell was blighted and the same goes for Nampa with all the Nampa Marketplace property in the UR district.

  23. So when 100 acres of undeveloped farmland valued at say $10,000 an acre for a total of $1,000,000.00 taxable valuation and is taxed at for arguments sake say at a rate of .001, the government entity who provides services get $1,000 per year to support operations. Right?

So along comes Urban Renewal and the same 100 acres gets subdivided into say a business district with strip malls, restaurants, movie theaters and such. Voila! A thriving micro community of 100 acres now valued at $100,000,000.00 of taxable property yielding $100,000.00 of tax revenue annually. But because of the way URD works, the government entity who provides the services for that area still only gets the same $1,000.00 per year as it did before development, while the URD gets the remaining $99,000.00 per year. So whats wrong with this picture? Before the 100 acres was developed, there was no need to provide much in the way of services like city water, sewer, fire protection, EMS, police, dog catcher etc. to the 100 acre area. How much impact does this new development have on the entities who have to provide services to these areas with no additional funding? So how is the city forced to deal with the problem? Raise everyone's taxes within the city to cover the tax gap to fund these services created by the newly redeveloped area. It would seem youth and inexperience has a lot more to learn before running for office.

  24. To Concerned Educator.

I don't trust Gen X, Y or Z to make a good decision.I'll stick with baby boomers thank you very much. At least they have a firm grip on reality.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think that the community has a lack of knowledge on the situation that this young man has. Just an FYI, it is the baby boomers that have created the issue in this country.

    ReplyDelete
  26. How So? Lack of knowledge of what? How Urban Renewal Works and how it really effects the community? Is the older generation responsible by saving for a rainy day, not overextending our credit line and having conservative values? Or should we all dye our hair purple, embrace Obamacare, and put our social lives ahead of our work? Today's generation has no clue what it means to work. The sad truth is they have been brainwashed through our liberal education system that their parents and grandparents are all to blame and if they would all just become good little socialists things would be better. The me first generation (Gen X) created these problems. Engaging in risky lending practices all the while betting on it's failure and cashing in on the insurance. Disgusting! You can't tax and spend your way out of a recession. Stop robbing Peter to pay Paul, tighten the belt and admit you have to be frugal until the economy improves.

  27. Old Fart,
You are respectfully wrong. You don't trust Gen X, Y, or Z to make good decisions. Fine, you are entitled to your opinion however you need a good dose of reality. It was us, the baby boomers, who expanded the role of the federal government with laws such as the type of lightbulbs we can use in our homes, and the type of toilets we buy at Lowes. It is us baby boomers who have destroyed the budget with an unending War on Terror, permitted the destruction of education by so called education reform. It is the us, the baby boomers, who have demanded government subsidies for our Medicare pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and other special interest corporate welfare. Old Fart, if you were a caring compassionate individual, us boomers would not have feathered our own nest but gave a tinker's damn for our grandchildren's generation. We can readily send the Generation X, Y, and Z off to fight for our liberties while our generation can feed at the public trough. Our piggish snouts will not allow us to waddle away while we spend our grandchildren's legacy into oblivion. Why should we care, because our bloated greed has destroyed this country for future generations. Sincerely,
    Another Old Fart

  28. with all due respect i would offer it was "the greatest generation" post WW2 that created all the entitlements and made a mess of most things governmental. the boomers got stuck dying in vietnam with nearly 58,000 dead and a lot more screwed up for life with exposure to agent orange, PTSD, and a cornucopia of war related trauma to deal with. the boomers started in 1946 and ended in 1960. they were not filling the halls of congress during the Great Society of Johnson, the War on Drugs and Detente..Nixon along with the creation of the EPA under Nixon. figure boomers in congress post 1975 for the most part and probably still a minority at that.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks for proving my point for me. Just as I said. "Brainwashed". I'm not the one clamoring for all these entitlements as you suggest. I'm sure most boomers aren't either. In fact we are disgusted by how far the liberal generation has pushed this country to the left. If anything, we are guilty of letting you purple haired weirdo's get away with it! It started with the Hippies in the sixties and just got worse from there. Whatever happened to respect your elders? If anything you should be thanking them for not having to speak German, Japanese or Chinese! Our blogmaster is a boomer if I am not mistaken. Paul, are you also the cause of all our current problems as Generation X seems to believe?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I must be confused since Im elderlySunday, October 23, 2011 9:14:00 AM

Yes it was all the baby boomers fault. If you are over 50 you should be ashamed with yourself! You cant even be trusted to string together an intelligible sentence! All you self serving greedy seniors with your entitlement programs like that overly generous social security and medicare. After all, we have younger people on welfare in our society who have never worked a day in their lives who need that money which we contributed over all these years. And to have the unmitigated gall to expect something in return for our investment! How dare we! Keep blaming the seniors in Caldwell. That's a real good way to earn votes.

  31. First off, I was not and have not commented on my own announcement. Second, this is the issue with politics and elections. Everyone wants to get off topic. The topics are here in front of us not on which generation has done more damage to this country. I was more-or-less raised by my grandparents who come from the traditionalist generation. My father is the youngest of 4 and is at the edge of the baby boomer and generation x. The fact of the matter is, some wreck it for all. The traditionalist generation send the baby first wave of boomers to Vietnam and a large wave of boomers turned into hippies. Some of the generation x populations wants and needs their work life balance while the Y haven't had much of a chance to do anything and I am not sure some want to. The fact of the matter is, those who are arguing about fault, need to look deeper into history, because all have fault. I understand the need and the desire for social security, but a great deal of the other social programs need to be changed or cut if we are going to continue to have a strong nation. I was going to let the conversation roll on uninterupted until the assumption arose that I am the one bringing up the bad of the boomers. If you have a question for me, email me and I will set the record straight. I will without issue let you know where I stand.

A public discourse on the issues of the day makes the world a better place.

We welcome comments but they will be moderated and edited if too long or do not have anything to do with the post.
Agree or disagree just do it without profanity or it won't get posted. Try to keep your comments to no more than 300 words. Too long and I will try to edit it down or simply delete the comment. The whole idea is to get people to read your comment. Don't use 10 words when one will do the job.

It's OK to have a difference of opinion but keep it civil. I have used the "delete" feature on myself at times.

The ANONYMOUS feature for comments seems to be the most user friendly. People have commented they have difficulty with the other methods of posting comments.
