Carnige Library Will Become Veterans Memorial Hall With Your Help
THE GUARDIAN received a flier in our water bill this month. Construction and improvement costs for the old library building are estimated to be $170,000. The flier suggested and hoped every household will make a one time donation of $10.00. That amount seems very small given what all our vets did for all of us. THE GUARDIAN is a Vietnam Veteran and my donation went out today. Please consider making a one time gift toward this worthy effort.
The address to make your tax deductible gift is:

A public discourse on the issues of the day makes the world a better place.
We welcome comments but they will be moderated and edited if too long or do not have anything to do with the post.
Agree or disagree just do it without profanity or it won't get posted. Try to keep your comments to no more than 300 words. Too long and I will try to edit it down or simply delete the comment. The whole idea is to get people to read your comment. Don't use 10 words when one will do the job.
It's OK to have a difference of opinion but keep it civil. I have used the "delete" feature on myself at times.
The ANONYMOUS feature for comments seems to be the most user friendly. People have commented they have difficulty with the other methods of posting comments.
I think it is great the veterans organizations will now have a much better place to meet and call home base. What I don't understand is why the Caldwell School District didn't just hand it over for free to the Vet's. Given all that Caldwell taxpayers have done for the Caldwell School District, why was it necessary for the City of Caldwell to pay them $200,000.00 for this old building with limited uses. I sent the Caldwell DAV $100.00 toward the rehab effort on this building but just saying.. the schools district missed an opportunity to give something back to the community. Now they want more money with big fat override levy election.
