$2.75 MM School Bond Election Tuesday March 13th

There will be a school bond election for just about all the school districts on Tuesday March 13, 2012.  I went to the Canyon County Elections site and copied the following information for Caldwell School District 132:

QUESTION:
Shall the Board of Trustees of School District No. 132, Canyon County, State of Idaho, be authorized and empowered to levy a Supplemental Maintenance and Operation Levy in the amount of $2,750,000.00 (Two Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars and no 100/cents) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013 and again for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 for the purpose in each fiscal year of supplementing the maintenance and operation expenses of the
District in each of said two fiscal years, all as provided in the Resolution adopted by the Board of Trustees on January 09, 2012?

There is also a recall issue for Trustee Sheila Harris on the ballot for those living in Ms. Harris Trustee Zone.

Amounts vary by school district for the amount of supplemental M&O funds. All school bond elections happen on March 13th.

You can vote early at the County Elections office at the corner of Chicago and 11th Ave. behind the Canyon County Courthouse.

  1. Hey Paul,

What do you think about this whole recall mess that has flared up recently? I think it demonstrates Caldwell is still deeply divided in two camps. The tax and spend group and the more conservative tax and spend group. (LOL)

Whats your view on this debacle?

    1. I believe this recall deal would not have happened had the lawsuit issue with the school district been out there ahead of the election. People generally do not like surprises. I won't second guess the motivation in this effort.

It is a right to exercise the recall effort and another to get the necessary signatures to actually qualify for a recall election. Now the voters will get a do-over. Ms. Harris will either be reaffirmed and survive the recall or we will get an appointed trustee to fill out her term.

All I want are prudent people to serve on the school board and spend our school tax dollars in a manner that will give our kids a fighting chance in life with a decent education.

All three of my kids are grown and out of the house. They got a very good education in Caldwell and at the U of I and BSU. They all have good jobs and are off my payroll. Bottom line is I don't have a dog in this fight and can't vote for or against this effort due to where I live.

  2. Won't see me voting yes on anything that the Nampa School District is doing. Especially after what that school district accountant found in her findings, more power to her.

    But its for the Children.
    So we must not ignore.
But the dust in my wallet.
    Will vote Nevermore.

A public discourse on the issues of the day makes the world a better place.

We welcome comments but they will be moderated and edited if too long or do not have anything to do with the post.
Agree or disagree just do it without profanity or it won't get posted. Try to keep your comments to no more than 300 words. Too long and I will try to edit it down or simply delete the comment. The whole idea is to get people to read your comment. Don't use 10 words when one will do the job.

It's OK to have a difference of opinion but keep it civil. I have used the "delete" feature on myself at times.

The ANONYMOUS feature for comments seems to be the most user friendly. People have commented they have difficulty with the other methods of posting comments.
