Nampa and Caldwell Election Results, Apathy Wins Again With Very Low Turnout

THE GUARDIAN is posting the election results for those of you who don't take the paper or missed them for one reason or another.  It was another example of disinterest in local elections by voters.  Nampa and Caldwell numbers are screaming apathy in these elections

  1. I did not vote for Clark, but did vote for Blacker and Ozuna. 2 out of 3 isn't bad. What a shame that so many people take for granted their right to vote.

  2. Paul, Apathy in my opinion is the reason we have the politicians we have. Unfortunately I think peoples economic situations will have to get even worse for them to care. 9% unemployment means there is 91% that are employed. If the unemployed number gets to 15% I think the entire country will be camping out on the whitehouse lawn. If people are eating, have some spending money etc they really don't care if "mayor Tammy" and the rest stay in office.

  3. Although I agree that as long as things are "ok" there will be low voter turnout and not much will change. I also see a glimmer of hope though. If an outsider looking in (me) can garner almost 20% and the fact that seat 1 was a pretty close race show that there are those who still vote for something other than the same old thing. To the first poster: Hate to bring this up but you really didn't vote 2 out of 3 due to seat 6 didn't even have an incumbent to vote for. my 2 cents

  4. number cruncher says...
Jerry, you split the vote man. When there is more than one opponent running against an incumbent it assures the incumbent will more often than not get reelected. Exception is Bob Henry who worked really hard to overcome the advantage held by Mr. Homer.

Too bad you and Fox didn't get together and talk it out as to who had the best opportunity to get elected. The numbers say Mr. Blacker would've been voted out.
The same can be said of Makrush and Mr. Marmon. Those against the incumbents outnumbered those for the incumbents.

  5. Yes, I agree that happens traditionally and probably happened here. In retrospect, a get together would have been beneficial for all of us. I did look at who had registered and either we registered the same day or I dropped the ball. Although I have no regrets I also understand there are some important lessons to be learned. Thanks for your comments

  6. Jerry, you are as off in your analysis here as you were throughout your campaign. The person here said two out of three meaning two out of the three they voted for won. Before you run again know some facts and come better prepared. It was difficult to listen to you spell.

A public discourse on the issues of the day makes the world a better place.

We welcome comments but they will be moderated and edited if too long or do not have anything to do with the post.
Agree or disagree just do it without profanity or it won't get posted. Try to keep your comments to no more than 300 words. Too long and I will try to edit it down or simply delete the comment. The whole idea is to get people to read your comment. Don't use 10 words when one will do the job.

It's OK to have a difference of opinion but keep it civil. I have used the "delete" feature on myself at times.

The ANONYMOUS feature for comments seems to be the most user friendly. People have commented they have difficulty with the other methods of posting comments.
