New County Admin. Office Groundbreaking Ceremoney Sept. 3, 2013

The Board of Canyon County Commissioners will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new $6.5 million Canyon County Administration Building on Tuesday, September 3 at 11:00 a.m.  Representatives from Meridian-based Engineered Structures, Inc. will join the Commissioners to break ground and officially kick-off construction on the project.  Several community members will also be recognized for their valuable input and support during the planning phase.

Construction on the three-story, 50,000 square-foot facility, is expected to be completed in May 2014.  The building will house the Assessor’s Office, Clerk’s Office, Treasurer’s Office, Development Services Department, Indigent Services Department and the Public Defender’s Office.

The project is being financed through an agreement with the Caldwell Urban Renewal Agency and will not increase property taxes for residents of Canyon County.

  1. Our county commissioners must be taking lessons from Mr. Dale and company. They have figured out how to get what they want without having to let those pesky voters get involved. i wonder what other projects are in the works that we will have the pleasure of paying for.

    1. We have had as low as 15% voter turnout in local elections. If your reference is the funding of this project, I will agree, urban renewal funds circumvent voters oversight on spending.

    2. It seems like the good ole boy clan in Caldwell and Nampa are looking for every legal loophole and knothole that they can find, to find a way to spend the taxpayers money, without the taxpayers vote on what they are spending the money on. Kinda unfair isn't it. Urban Renewal has been abused.

A public discourse on the issues of the day makes the world a better place.

We welcome comments but they will be moderated and edited if too long or do not have anything to do with the post.
Agree or disagree just do it without profanity or it won't get posted. Try to keep your comments to no more than 300 words. Too long and I will try to edit it down or simply delete the comment. The whole idea is to get people to read your comment. Don't use 10 words when one will do the job.

It's OK to have a difference of opinion but keep it civil. I have used the "delete" feature on myself at times.

The ANONYMOUS feature for comments seems to be the most user friendly. People have commented they have difficulty with the other methods of posting comments.
