Nanobrewery Wants to Locate at 10th and Grant in Caldwell

THE GUARDIAN received a very nice letter today inviting me to attend a meeting to review and discuss a proposed "nanobrewery" project at the corner of 10th Avenue and Grant Streets.  The meeting will be held at the Caldwell public library at 3:00 PM on Monday August 6th.

Those familiar with brew pubs know they are not just another beer joint in a community, they are more restaurant with a limited high quality menu and they serve up equally high quality micro brews.  The few that I have been in are family friendly, have a relaxing atmosphere and generally the perfect mix of good food served in a clean environment at reasonable prices.  This could be a nice addition to the Fairview Golf Course, sort of a 19th hole environement.

THE GUARDIAN owns property in the vicinity of this proposed project and will attend the meeting in support of this project.  The letter we received was signed by Josh White of Tay's Inc.

This meeting is part of the process in getting permits and approvals from the city of Caldwell P&Z and final approvals from the City Council.

  1. Does this project involve public money such as urban renewal funds or is it privitly funded?

  3. This appears to be a privatly funded project. I hope to attend the meeting on this and will report back. I hope this becomes a "19th hole" for Fairview Golf Course. The meeting is a first step in the P&Z process and property owners within 300' received notice of a change of use for the building they intend to occupy.

  4. I hope this won't be another "shoestring" effort at doing business. If the potential operator comes in with a class act it will be a great place to go eat and drink a pint or two of craft beer.

  5. has anyone stopped to consider the local resident and all the traffic concerns people driving drunk around the local children and all the trash and rodents that feed on the waste a resturant produces ?

    1. You obviously have no concept of what a brew pub is all about. They are generally family friendly places with a limited menu of very good food and excellent beer sold by the pint.

I assuree you the sky is not falling and hope this effort moves forward with little of the headwinds handed out by city hall. It will be a great place for people to eat and enjoy some conversation over a non-fast food menu. I am sure the "local children" will be just as welcome here are they are in a pizza parlor.

    2. I think what we need are a few more pubs where you can get good food and good drink in a quaint atmosphere as opposed to the existing disgusting bars in downtown Caldwell right now. You wouldn't catch me dead in any of those flea bag bars. A few micro brewery's and a touch of class is exactly what this town needs.

A public discourse on the issues of the day makes the world a better place.

We welcome comments but they will be moderated and edited if too long or do not have anything to do with the post.
Agree or disagree just do it without profanity or it won't get posted. Try to keep your comments to no more than 300 words. Too long and I will try to edit it down or simply delete the comment. The whole idea is to get people to read your comment. Don't use 10 words when one will do the job.

It's OK to have a difference of opinion but keep it civil. I have used the "delete" feature on myself at times.

The ANONYMOUS feature for comments seems to be the most user friendly. People have commented they have difficulty with the other methods of posting comments.
