A public discourse on the issues of the day makes the world a better place.
We welcome comments but they will be moderated and edited if too long or do not have anything to do with the post.
Agree or disagree just do it without profanity or it won't get posted. Try to keep your comments to no more than 300 words. Too long and I will try to edit it down or simply delete the comment. The whole idea is to get people to read your comment. Don't use 10 words when one will do the job.
It's OK to have a difference of opinion but keep it civil. I have used the "delete" feature on myself at times.
The ANONYMOUS feature for comments seems to be the most user friendly. People have commented they have difficulty with the other methods of posting comments.
Call Elections and Passports (208)454-7562 if you need to find the precinct you are in, to find your voting place.
ReplyDeleteVOTE NO JAIL BOND ON AUGUST 3rd
we have plenty of jail space for a county this size. 30% of the people are 18 or younger, 20% are 65 or older and do not fit jail demographics.
ReplyDeletethat leaves 90k of the county population who could postentially end up in our jail. using the current assets the jail @ 296 beds and the work center at 223 beds we can lock up 5112 people a year at 85% of useful capacity. that rounds out to 5 in 100 people in the county can now be locked up if the place was managed to 85% of actual capacity. that would leave 44 beds vacant each day in the jail and 33 beds empth in the work release center.
the people promoting a jail would not tolerate any of their assest to underperform by a factor of 15% slack. they would want and expect their business to be as close to 100% as possible before they went out for new plant and equipment.
What we need instead of an election is some "ADULT SUPERVISION" of Commissioners and other people in office who can't resist spending money we don't have.
