You would not save a dime. I know because they tried it before. Think about it, Suppose you run a car to 120,000 miles before taking it out of service and replacing it. Suppose a deputy drives 30,000 miles a year. If two deputies tag team that car it will be worn out in 2 years. If one deputy drives it, it will get replaced in 4 years. So what have you accomplished? Nothing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4157230973290376625.post-3683642723278904052014-01-09T23:42:43.791-07:002014-01-09T23:42:43.791-07:00Turnover may not be a problem at the city, but at ...Turnover may not be a problem at the city, but at the county it's the nature of the beast. It's a continuous process of recruitment and training to fill the holes. As you can imagine this costs us all a fortune for the sheriff to have such an unstable work force. Just imagine if he could keep jailers for longer than two years and actually recapture some of that investment.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4157230973290376625.post-43133647056724410532014-01-09T13:31:22.703-07:002014-01-09T13:31:22.703-07:00Cities have to watch out on getting into debt. I think that Mayor Henry will get Nampa away from that pathway to debt. I am glad he is in there now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4157230973290376625.post-20184390539310784412014-01-08T11:41:35.819-07:002014-01-08T11:41:35.819-07:00Government employment is a great deal for workers....Government employment is a great deal for workers. Despite what they claim about making less, the reality is most jobs pay very well. You don't see a lot of turnover and their retirement benefits are defined via PERSI and they can still contribute to a "457" deferred compensation plan with pre-tax dollars. Elected officials all make a very nice income as well. These vehicles sit unused when the deputy is not on duty. I know of one patrol vehicle that sat for 2 weeks last year while the deputy was on vacation I t may make sense to do so with a resident deputy out in the far reaches of the county but those that operate out of the Caldwell office should be sharing vehicles. I would guess we could reduce the number of vehicles we have to buy and maintain by at least 1/3 if we did this and still provide the necessary service Bobnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4157230973290376625.post-62248712867665460162014-01-05T23:38:48.170-07:002014-01-05T23:38:48.170-07:00How much do the sheriff's make? Tim Randall was the Officer who was in the middle of the early morning car chase that left 4 Nampa police cars wrecked, citizen's property damaged and parked cars(s) damaged. He authorized the high speed pursuit of a DUI suspect. All this damage and the risk to people in the area made no sense when they could have followed this guy to his home and arrested him in his driveway. THE GUARDIAN filed a public records request on this event and it was met with the BLUE WALL OF SILENCE by the Nampa Police, Canyon Sheriff, and ISP. Records of this have been swept under the rug of silence.Paul Alldredgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10502379547952380365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4157230973290376625.post-68150314045140405362014-01-05T08:09:24.871-07:002014-01-05T08:09:24.871-07:00Thank you for this useful information.
