Republican Politicos McGee and Craig Charged

By David R. Frazier

It hasn’t been a good week for GOP lawmakers. Former Repub state Senator John McGee and U.S. Senator Larry Craig were the object of formal charges filed in separate court cases this week.

McGee, still on probation for his infamous D.U.I. in a stolen motorhome, has been hit with “disturbing the peace,” by the same prosecutor who went out of state to find an attorney to handle the D.U.I. matter last year. But this time, McGee was just a regular citizen. The complaint originated from a female state employee and it’s a safe bet she didn’t report him “disturbing the peace.” He also is charged with violating his unsupervised probation which required him to not get in further trouble. Both charges are misdemeanor criminal violations.

Craig, who became famous for tapping his foot during a sit down in the men’s room at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport five years ago, was charged with federal election violations. The feds say he misused $217,000 in campaign funds for his legal defense. Craig’s latest case is a civil matter.

  1. The Repubican party needs to clean out the overly pious people involved in nefarious activity or they will quickly lose their collective MOJO in Idaho. Probably not a bad thing as they are so badly inbred I keep waiting for additional eyes, noses and other body parts so start showing up.

McGee clearly did not comphrehend just how narrowly his sideboards were when he crossed the line this last time. I hope he can get this mess right with his family. For now a political "time out" is a good thing for everyone.

  2. Wonder when they are going to nail Curt McKenzie for the 3 years he drew extra money by declaring his office a residence and abusing his campaign funds by using some of the funds for skydiving

    1. The very least we should get from McKinzie is a public apology and return of any monies he should not have received. And then there is Phil Hart who simply doesn't pay his taxes, steals logs from the State.

I can only wonder what goes on their collective heads to rationlaize their behavior. Every time I see and elderly person or anyone as far as that goes barely getting by playing by the rules it bothers me deeply to see the actions of corrupt politicians and how they continually get away with bad behavior.

  3. Less we forget about the infamous northern idaho tax protestor that filed bankruptcy after his failed supreme court case. (Hart)

  4. I think a fitting response to those who are corrupt is for local businesses where the corrupt reside to refuse them any services such as gasoline, groceries, restaurant service, and so forth. "The little man" has a voice.

A public discourse on the issues of the day makes the world a better place.

We welcome comments but they will be moderated and edited if too long or do not have anything to do with the post.
Agree or disagree just do it without profanity or it won't get posted. Try to keep your comments to no more than 300 words. Too long and I will try to edit it down or simply delete the comment. The whole idea is to get people to read your comment. Don't use 10 words when one will do the job.

It's OK to have a difference of opinion but keep it civil. I have used the "delete" feature on myself at times.

The ANONYMOUS feature for comments seems to be the most user friendly. People have commented they have difficulty with the other methods of posting comments.
